William, “Bill,” attended The Ohio State University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He received his Funeral Director and Embalmer license in 1975. William, along with Thomas Wappner, took over the ownership of the original Wappner Funeral Directors in 1987 after the death of the Wappner generation before them. With over a century and a quarter, embracing four generations, Wappner Funeral Directors possesses a respected heritage.
William is a respected member of the business community as a Past President of the National Funeral Directors Association; Past President of the Ohio Funeral Directors Assocation; Past Policy Board Member and Past Chairman of the Government Regulatory Committee of the National Funeral Directors Association; a board member of the Ohio Crematory Operators Association; board member of Mansfield Memorial Homes; a member of the Preferred Funeral Directors International; and other civic organizations. He is also active in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the North and Central Ohio Volunteers of American, Inc., Past Master of the Mansfield Lodge #35F. & A.M.
Bill and his wife, Esther live in Mansfield and have three grown children. He enjoys golf and sporting clays.
Tom Wappner has been working in funeral service his entire life. For Tom, caring for families in their time of need is a passion and privilege.
In 1968, Tom began working part time at Wappner while attending Malabar High School. He attended Ohio State University before graduating from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1972 and became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1973.
Dedicated to providing Ohioans with superior service, Tom is a proud member of the Ohio Funeral Director Association and served as the past President and Secretary of Ohio Funeral Directors District 2. He is also a member of the Ohio Funeral Director Association Mortuary Response, the National Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors The Heritage Club, and Region V Disaster Mortuary Operations Response Team. In 2005, he was deployed to the Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi, area by DMORT after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita tore through the region. Tom is a member of the newly formed Ohio Mortuary Operational Response Team.

Tom and his wife have been married for over 40 years and have three sons and three grandchildren together. He attends First English Lutheran Church and enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, antique cars, woodworking, and the outdoors.

Jerry Inebnit has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and General Manager at Wappner Funeral Directors for 8 years.
Born in Bowling Green, Ohio, Jerry graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1981. He then received his Ohio Funeral Directors & Embalmer License in 1987 from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He had previously received a New York State Funeral Directors & Embalmer License in 1984.
With over 31 years of experience in funeral service, Jerry is a Certified Crematory Operator and responsible for the training and oversight of the Wappner Crematory known as North Central Ohio Cremation Services.
He is proud to manage the best funeral service provider in north central Ohio.
In his spare time, Jerry enjoys golf and is a member of the Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield.

Dann Marble has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors since 1988.
Born in Ashland, Ohio, he attended Ashland High School before receiving his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 from Ashland College and his Graduate degree from Bowling Green State University. Dann continued his studies at Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science then began working as a Licensed Funeral Director with Dalbert-Woodruff-Vitt-Stermer Funeral Home in Cincinnati and Gilbert Funeral Home in Ashland.
With over 43 years of experience in funeral service, Dann is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Ohio Funeral Directors Association where he chaired the Professional Educational Committee for four years and was on the Membership Services Committee for three years.
Dedicated to his community, Dann is a member of the Rotary Club of Ashland, Ashland University Alumni Association, Elk Club of Ashland, Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, Ashland Masonic Lodge #151, both York Rite and Scottish Rite, Mason Valley of Canton Mohican Council #314 Allied Masonic Degrees, past deputy grandmaster for the 20th Masonic District, a current President of Young Men’s Business Club, and past president of Married Couples Dance Club.

Dan Distl has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors since 1983.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Dan attended from Mansfield Senior High School in 1954. He then graduated from Ashland University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1966.
He is a member of Venus Masonic Lodge #152 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Baku Grotto, Elks Lodge #56, and served as past secretary and treasurer of the OFDA District 2.
He and his wife have two daughters and three grandchildren. Dan enjoys antique cars and refinishing and repairing furniture in his spare time.

Sean Hartwell has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors for 19 years.
Born in Bucyrus, Ohio, Sean graduated from Bucyrus High School before receiving his Bachelors degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1990 and his Associates Degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1995.
He is a proud member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, the CANA, Westbrook Country Club and BPO Elks #56.
In his spare time, Sean enjoys golfing and exercising.
Scott Baltzell has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors for 17 years.
Born in Rockford, Ohio, Scott began working in funeral service at the age of 15. He graduated from Parkway High School in 1994 and then received his Association degree in Biological Science in 1996 from Wright State University and his Bachelor in Mortuary Science from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1998.
Scott is the President of District #2 Ohio Funeral Directors Association and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Woodland Club.
He and his wife, Carianne, have two children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his family and attending his children’s school activities at Mansfield Christian Schools.
Megan Lewis has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors since April 2013. Born in Sandusky, MI, she attended Clawson High School in Michigan in 2000 before graduating from Wayne State University in Detroit in 2004 with her degree in Mortuary Science.
From 2005 to 2008, she worked as a Funeral Director at AJ Desmond and Sons and spent 2008 to 2010 at Secor Funeral Home.
Megan is a member of the Ohio Embalmer’s Association, and the National Funeral Director Association.
She and her husband, Bob, have four children. They are members of Willard Christian and Missionary Alliance and enjoy traveling on mission trips. Megan is a Sunday School Teacher and Awana Leader.

Eric has been serving as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Wappner Funeral Directors since 2015. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from Galion High School before attending The Ohio State University and graduating with his Bachelor of Mortuary Science degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1991.
Eric is a past board member of the Crawford County United Way and a member of Galion Masonic Lodge #414 F.& A.M. and Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F.& A.M. He is a past District Deputy Grandmaster of the 16th Masonic district. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as a Captain in the Military Police Corps.
Eric enjoys watching sports and running. He and his wife, Kathy, enjoy camping and traveling.
David Dauterman has been serving as a Funeral Home Associate at Wappner Funeral Directors for 14 years.
He graduated from Upper Sandusky High School before attending Marion Technical College and Franklin University.
Dedicated to serving his community, David is a member of the Mansfield F&AM Lodge #35, Mansfield Chapter #28, Council #94 and Commandery #21, Baku Grotto and Scottish Rite, and Valley of Toledo. He served as the Past State Scribe for the Order of DeMolay and received their Distinguished Service Award and Chevalier Degree.
Also active in the Boy Scouts of America, David served as Pack Leader for Pack 121 from 2001 to 2007, Troop 121 Merit Badge Counselor since 2009 and has been Troop Committee Member since 2007.
He, his wife Missy, and their four children attend St. Peters Church and Grace Episcopal Church, where David is a past vestry leader and Sunday School reader, as well as a chalice bearer and lector.
In his spare time, David volunteers for Relay For Life, Bingo at St. Peter’s School and has served as a sports booster, soccer, baseball and basketball coach.
Administrative & Accounting Assistant
Jenelle Thoman has been serving as an Accounting and Administrative Assistant at Wappner for a decade. Born in Lexington, Ohio, she graduated from Lexington High School in 1998. She then studied Cosmetology at Pioneer Career and Technology Center.
Jenelle is a proud mother of two daughters and four furry children.
Debbi Watkins has been serving as an Administrative Assistant at Wappner Funeral Director since 2001. She was promoted to Administrative Supervisor in 2016. Born in Shelby, Ohio, Debbi graduated from Shelby High School and has since attended many professional development seminars.
She serves as an advisor to the Richland County Emergency Preparedness committee, and is responsible for all necessary administrative filings for our families.
Debbi has two beautiful daughters and one adorable grandson. Keeping up with her energetic grandson is a favorite activity. She is an avid OSU Buckeyes fan and follows all Ohio sports teams. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crafts, and sewing.
Receptionist & Contributing Care Consultant
Beverly Bernotas has been serving as a Receptionist and Continuing Care Consultant at Wappner Funeral Directors for 13 years. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Beverly attended Malabar High School.
She is a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle. Beverly and her husband, Dr. Raymond Bernotas, have a daughter, son and three grandsons.
Administrative Assistant & Funeral Director
Shelly Woode has been serving as an Administrative Assistant and Funeral Director with Wappner Funeral Directors since 2004. Brought up in the funeral industry, Shelly began working for her family’s business in 1989 before they merged with Wappners.
She attended Mount DeChantal Visitation Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia before graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture.
Shelly attends Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland. She and her husband Jim have one son, Michael, who attends Case Western Reserve University.
Angie Benedict has been serving as Administrative Assistant at Wappner Funeral Director since 2017. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Angie graduated from Shelby Senior High School and attended Pioneer Career and Technology Center. Angie went on to North Central State College and later attended Capella University studying Business Management with a focus in Human Resources.
Angie is a member of Bellville Freewill Baptist Church and currently serves as the Choir Director. Angie is the mother to two beautiful daughters, Katie and Sammi. In her spare time, Angie enjoys taking road trips, reading, daily devotions, baking and is an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Rodney Deal has been serving as a Funeral Home Associate, Certified Crematory Operator, and Maintenance Professional at Wappner Funeral Directors since 1992. Born in Lucas, Ohio, he attended Lucas High School.
He and his wife, Tonia, have two children. In his spare time, Rodney enjoys watching sports.

Matthew Pond has been serving as a Funeral Home Associate at Wappner Funeral Directors for 6 years. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, he attended Crestview High School. He has worked as a Certified Crematory Operator and is the Pastor of Shelby First Free Will Baptist Church.
He and his wife, Laura, have one son. He enjoys leading and serving the church, fishing, being outdoors and reading scripture.
Funeral Home Associate
Dave was born in Texas and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and Bowling Green State University. He was formerly employed as the Command Post Controller at the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio National Guard stationed at Lahm Airport. Dave has been employed at Wappner Funeral Directors since 2008.
He enjoys walking and biking along the Richland County B & O Bike Trail and boating on Lake Erie. Dave has a son and grandson living in Richland County and a daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and grandson living in South Carolina.
