Frank Potter, 60, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord, with dignity and strength on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Oak Grove Manor. Born July 17, 1949, in Elkhorn City, KY, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Leona Fields Potter. A cosmetologist, Frank was a graduate of Wooster Beauty College and was a member of First Baptist Church in Crestline. He loved playing pool with his son and brothers and being a part of their family traveling pool team. Frank enjoyed baseball, NASCAR and fishing with his buddies. He loved his family and his friends who he considered to be a part of his family. Frank was a dreamer, always having big dreams whether they were fulfilled or not.
Surviving are his former wife of 34 years, Shannon Friend; two daughters, Michelle Foltz and Nicole Mike Brown all of Mansfield; a son, Jonathan Potter of Mansfield; grandchildren, Christopher Bird Kallimanis, Michael Pokey Brown, Morgan Sweet Pea Brown, Adrea Sissy Potter and Brandon Bubby Potter; three brothers, Larry Cooch Potter and his wife, Char, Steve PeeWee Potter and Jeff Butch Potter; a sister, Diana Lynn Geary and her husband, Henry III; and nieces and nephews, Jen Blue, Jill Taylor, Ryan Potter, Kristy Arter, Jason Arter, Henry Geary IV, Amy Potter, Allison Weeks, Hailey Potter and Hillary Geary. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Potter; two aunts, Avonell Potter Ratliff and Beulah Potter; and a nephew, Brandon Arter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Eubanks. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
